Nathan Fortmeyer (b. 1988) is a freelance photographer and journalist. Originally from Southern Illinois, he has spent a decade photographing environmental portraits, focusing on the link between a subject and his or her environment.
Fortmeyer has also written about electronic privacy and surveillance. His 2017 M.S. research project, “Surveillance Self-Defense”, resulted in several newspaper and radio interviews, as well as public workshops on electronic privacy. He has also covered Illinois politics for the Gateway Journalism Review. His photographs have been exhibited at the Cedarhurst Center for the Arts and in Photographer's Forum.
Most recently, Fortmeyer worked as the set photographer for the feature film, Range Runners.
